When I learned to make wire-wrapped jewelry I was hooked! There are so many wire wrapped earrings you can design and make when you know how to bring an idea to life using a little wire. Such is the case with the Rachel Wire Wrapped Earrings.
I sat in the barber shop one day while my sons got their hair cut. I had this nagging urge to sketch something. I didn't know what it was going to be. So, I started to skectch...focused...zoned out...not aware of the conversations going on around me. This is the sketch that resulted from the creative surge.

It was intricate. I had never made anything like it. Not something that seemed so complex. How would I pull this off?I wondered. It took nearly a year and one big creative surge. The result are these stunning wire wrapped earrings.

Bringing the Wire Wrapped Earrings to Life
When I skecthed these, the words 'regal' and 'exquisite' came to mind. I didn't want to skimp on materials. So, I pulled out the 14kt gold-filled wire I had been reserving for that special design and began the final journey from sketch to product.

Gold-filled wire won't change colors. I also use 14kt gold-filled chain in the design.
I used black Swaroski crystals in this design as well. The crystals definitely complete the piece. The wire wrapped earrings would seem naked without them.
I'm proud of this wire wrapped earring design.
What do you think?

Good morning Ayana!
I am in love with the Rachel Wire Wrapped Earrings. I have sensitive ears and can only wear real gold. How does gold filled compare and does it work for sensitive ears? How much are these?

Hi Indira!
Thanks for your comment. Let’s start with Gold vs. Gold-filled.
Gold-filled is a layer of real gold applied to a,base metal like brass or sterling silver. The gold is applied with heat for preassure. It’s about as close as you can get to solid gold without it being solid gold. Industry standards require that gold-filled be at least 5% solid gold. Usually gold filled is 14kt or 12kt.
It might work for your sensitive ears.
I’m glad you like the Rachel earrings. They are $125 at my Etsy store. There’s only 2 other pairs out there like this. I have a pair. I sold a pair. I’m only making 3 more of these.
